Ukrainian community in Botswana marked the Day of Unity
22 January 2026 10:12

On January 22, Ukraine marks the Day of Unity.
This date brings together two defining moments of our history: the proclamation of Ukraine’s independence in 1918, and the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1919.

Unity for Ukraine is not a slogan. It means territorial integrity, civic and spiritual cohesion, and a shared responsibility for the state, regardless of region, ethnicity, or religion. The Act of Unity affirmed a simple truth: Ukraine is one, indivisible, and sovereign. This historical fact directly refutes false narratives that deny Ukraine’s statehood.

Ukrainians around the world stand together in solidarity. The Ukrainian community in Botswana marked the Day of Unity by forming a human chain in front of the National Assembly of Botswana, demonstrating that Ukraine’s unity extends far beyond its borders.

In the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression, unity remains a strategic necessity.
Ukraine’s territorial integrity will be fully restored after the liberation of all occupied territories.
Unity is not only our history. It is the goal of our Victory.
