On 24 June 2025, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Botswana, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union and the Embassy of France, hosted a panel discussion to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy.
The event brought together prominent women leaders from across the diplomatic and policy community to reflect on the theme: "Beyond Representation: Women’s Voices in Diplomacy."
Distinguished panellists included:
• Hon. Maipelo Mophuting, Assistant Minister for State President of Botswana
• H.E. Mrs. Petra Pereyra, EU Ambassador to Botswana and SADC
• H.E. Mrs. Pamela Chisanga, High Commissioner of Zambia to Botswana and SADC
• H.E. Amb. Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna, High Commissioner of Kenya to Botswana
• Ms. Keolebogile Lebogang Diswai, UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa
The discussion was moderated by Ms. Anastasiia Sheremet, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine, who guided the discussion to create space for an honest exchange on both personal experience and systemic change in diplomacy. Special remarks were delivered by Ms. Soukeyna Fall, diplomat at the French Embassy, who addressed the importance of feminist diplomacy in today’s world.
The event gathered a diverse audience of government officials, business women, diplomats, academics, civil society, and youth — demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing gender equity in diplomacy and beyond.
